Toyota sales in China increased by 0.4% in May

Toyota sales in China increased by 0.4% in May Japan’s largest automaker, Toyota, after experiencing a decline in sales volume, sales in China finally achieved its first “conversion” this year. According to the statistics of the company, in May Toyota sold about 79,000 vehicles in China, an increase of 0.4%.

Toyota sold about 78,700 vehicles in China in the same period last year. Due to well-known reasons, the Department of Waterloo has appeared in China since September last year. Despite the “conversion” in May, Toyota’s cumulative sales in China still fell 8.6% year-on-year, based on data from January to May this year.

Behind the increase in sales is Toyota’s increase in production in China. According to reports, in April this year, Toyota's production increased by 8.7% to 72,955 vehicles. Nissan and Honda, which belong to Japanese cars, also recorded a year-on-year increase of 7.1% and 5.9% in April.

Benefiting from the news that Japanese car sales are picking up, GAC Group (601238), a joint venture with a number of Japanese cars, recently hit a daily limit, and the stock closed up 0.22% to 9.19 yuan yesterday.
